Audition for Universal Pictures live-action feature film adaptation "Cats"


The Universal Pictures live-action feature film adaptation of "Cats" is now casting principal roles, and newcomers are able to be considered through self-made video performances and live Skype auditions. Any talent interested in participating in the online auditions can sign up through Amazon (details below). "Cats" is being executive produced by three-time Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg, along with Academy Award winner Andrew Lloyd Webber. The new talent chosen will star opposite two-time Academy Award nominee Ian McKellen as Gus The Theatre Cat, two-time Golden Globe Award nominee Taylor Swift as Bombalurina, Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella, and Mette Towley as Jemima. Also joining the cast is James Corbin as Bustopher Jones. Academy Award winner Tom Hooper ("Les Misérables", "The King's Speech") will direct "Cats" from his own adapted screenplay. "Cats" is scheduled to hit theaters on December 20, 2019.

The following roles are being cast:

DEMETER – A skittish queen. She sings "Macavity" alongside Bombalurina and is 1/3 of the "Gumbie trio" with Jellylorum and Bombalurina.

GRIDDLEBONE – Growltiger's lover in Growltiger's Last Stand.

GROWLTIGER – A theatrical character Gus recalls playing in his youth.

JELLYLORUM – A queen who watches out for the kittens, along with Jennyanydots.

JENNYANYDOTS – The old Gumbie cat. She sits all day and rules the mice and cockroaches at night, forcing them to undertake helpful functions and creative projects, to curb their naturally destructive habits.

MACAVITY – A notorious criminal known as The Napoleon of Crime.

MR. MISTOFFELEES – A young tuxedo tom learning to control his magical powers.

MUNGOJERRIE – One-half of a notorious duo of cat-burglars, with Rumpleteazer.

MUNKUSTRAP – The show's main narrator. A tabby tomcat who is storyteller and protector of the Jellicle tribe. He is Old Deuteronomy's second-in-command.

OLD DEUTERONOMY – The elderly Jellicle Leader.

RUMPLETEAZER – One half of a notorious duo of cat-burglars, with Mungojerrie.

THE RUM TUM TUGGER – A flashy cat. His temperament ranges from clownish to serious.

SKIMPLESHANKS – The railway cat. An active orange tabby cat, who lives on the trains and acts as an unofficial chaperone to such an extent he is considered rather indispensable to the train and station employees.

VICTORIA – A white kitten. Will sing a new Andrew Lloyd Webber song in the film.

ALONZO – A black and white/black and gold tom. Sometimes considered the third in seniority after Munkustrap as he also fights Macavity.

TUMBLEBRUTUS – A brown and white tom kitten. He is a playful young kitten, often performing acrobatics as well as being a strong dancer.

ELECTRA - Tabby kitten who is a fan of Rum Tum Tugger.

Talented individuals who are able to perform a self-made audition video (from a script segment, and possibly music, provided by the casting director) are welcome to sign up to be submitted to audition for "Cats" from any area. I would need your photos and general information such as contact information, age, height, weight, any special skills or activities, etc. After you send me your photos and information, I will create a submission package and will submit you for roles to my casting director contact for "Cats". Once the casting director contacts you, they will provide the script segment for you to create a self-made audition video. You will then email that video back to the casting director, and the process will continue with a live Skype audition.
