Talent search for lead role in Steven Spielberg's feature film 'West Side Story'
Three-time Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg is conducting a talent search for his upcoming Twentieth Century Fox live-action musical feature film "West Side Story". Spielberg is casting the role of MARIA, a Latino/Hispanic female between the ages of 15 to 25 years old who can sing and has a strong dance background for the 20th Century Fox production. Talent interested should submit a photo and video of themselves singing to westsidestorycastingsearch@gmail.com. "West Side Story" is a remake of the 1961 film about rival gangs in New York City. The original 1961 film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and won 10, including Best Picture, becoming the record holder for the most wins for a movie musical. Spielberg is directing "West Side Story" from an adapted screenplay written by two-time Academy Award nominee Tony Kushner based on the book by two-time Academy Award nominee Arthur Laurents. Spielberg is also producing along with Kevin McCollum and two-time Academy Award nominee Kristie Macosko Krieger. Shooting on "West Side Story" will commence in July, 2019.
